Theodore E. Kanell was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from the University of Utah School of Business, Magna Cum Laude, in 1974. His major was Marketing with an emphasis on Statistical Analysis. He became a realtor in 1975 as he worked his way through law school at the University of Utah. He graduated from law school in 1978 and began his private practice representing realtors, construction and development companies.

He joined his practice with the law firm of Hanson, Russon and Dunn in 1983. Since that time, he has represented many professionals on negligence claims. Realtors, title companies, construction companies, engineers and architects are a few of his clients. Over the past 30 years, he has become familiar with building standards, professional standards, and legal standards associated with real property.

Mr. Kanell has litigated cases up to the Supreme Court of the State of Utah and also the United States Supreme Court. He has gained licenses to practice law in all courts in the State of Utah, the United States District Court for the State of Utah, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. Today, he is a managing partner of the firm with its present name of Plant, Christensen & Kanell.

Mr. Kanell maintains an “AV” rating with Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest rating awarded to attorneys for professional competence and ethics.
